Let’s start with some good news, 2016 has only just begun and already Kent’s music calendar is packed to the rafters with quality artists, gigs and festivals all the way through to December.
Here at We Love HQ we’re excited to share with you lovely lot the best places to be throughout Spring and Summer, so you don’t miss a LEGENDARY adventure, and sit there with a glum look on your face for the rest of the year. We’re taking you on a whistle-stop tour of 2016, so sit back, relax and get ready to say ‘oooo that sounds good’.
Our first destination is The Winter Social @ Kent County Showground, Maidstone 6th February
Sorry kids, but this one is strictly adults only. With that out the way, for those lucky enough to be over 18, The Winter Social needs to be on your radar. This fledgling festival has only been running since 2013 but is already attracting some of the biggest dance music acts this side of Ibiza. With huge names on the line-up such as Adam Beyer, Steve Lawler & Guy Gerber being drawn to Maidstone, this festival is guaranteed good times. Great way to start of 2016 and get your first festival under your belt.
Tickets are still available at time of writing
Moving swiftly on and changing it up slightly, our next musical destination is the Hope Festival @ Biggin Hill 27-29th May
Easily the first BIG camping/music event of the summer, Hope Festival is a more family friendly affair with a real smorgasbord of entertainment that offers something for everyone. Running for over 20 years, once you’ve been once, we’re sure it’s going to be how you kick off every summer. With 3 stages and a piano bar (ooo fancy) there is guaranteed to be someone playing you’ll love. With too many bands to namecheck and tons more to be unveiled, head to Hope Festival’s website to get fully clued up!
Time to move onto a festival which could have struggled to top their lineup last year, but have easily shown they can go bigger and better. It’s Forest Live @ Bedgebury Pinetum 17-18th June
Only one band has been confirmed so far but it’s a BIGGY! The mighty Kaiser Chiefs will be gracing Kent and headlining on Saturday and it’s safe to say ‘I Predict A Riot’ to get tickets to see them once tickets are up for grabs! With the likes of Paloma Faith, Jessie J and Sam Smith performing at past events, we’re sure this year is going to be jam packed with mega stars of the music world!
Time to get a bit classy and (pretend to be) cultured with Leeds Castle Classical Concert 9th July & Castle Concerts 2016 @ Rochester Castle 13-16 July
If you’ve been in Kent for more than a heartbeat you’ll have definitely have heard of these big boys. Holding down July for years, heading to the Castle Concerts is (or should be) a firm tradition for thousands of families in and around Kent.
Leeds Castle is described as the ‘loveliest castle in the world’ and is the perfect backdrop for some high end entertainment with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & The Definitive Rat Pack. Bring a blanket (and some bevvies) and enjoy one of the most iconic evenings in Kent, guaranteed to go out with a bang, mainly because of the huge fireworks display at the end of the evening.
Rochester Castle follows up with a weekend of musical mayhem that is crammed full of talent, both old and new. Whilst the lineup hasn’t been announced, looking at last years, with the likes of Peter Andre, Blue & Billy Ocean, we’re sure that 2016 will once again, be a year not to miss the Castle Concerts.
For those about to rock (in July) we salute you! Wrapping up the first half of the year with a killer lineup already announced is Ramblin’ Man @ Mote Park Maidstone 23-24 July.
This one is for the classic rock fan with so many legends, you won’t be able to swing a cat and not hit one (please do not attempt to swing a cat). With the likes of Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Europe, and tons more, it’s time to break out the denim jacket, leather trousers and bust out the hairspray. In only its second year, Ramblin’ Man is set to be a cornerstone of the classic rock calendar. Tickets are already available so grab them before they go!
That’s it from We Love on the happenings for the first half of the year, and our first blog done and dusted. Keep your eyes peeled for more from us on what’s going on and around Kent that you NEED to get out there and enjoy! If we’ve missed anything let us know, we’re always happy to scream and shout about all the cool things in Kent. Until next time!
